{COLLECTION DEBUT} American Girl Birthday TEA

   
OK I know I say this every time I have a birthday party for my daughter but this time - no really - I think THIS is my new favorite design! I mean I love love love the red & mint together . . . it's shabby chic . . . it's waaaaay girly . . . it has quatrefoil (hellooooo) and I hand illustrated it. YUP. NEW favorite ;)

I am still editing the bazillion pics I took but please be patient & just knooooow that the FULL blog post will be sooooooon! Pinky swear! ;) (everyone say yeahhhhhhh)

But at least I got it in the 'ol shop for you in case you want to start planning a Birthday TEA of your own with American Girl dolls or any doll collection. ENJOY!

 

"American Birthday TEA"  party collection

 

Here's what you get in this collection . . .

1. banner - 3 different ones or put together for one very large and looooong one!

 2.  paper pack - 3 designs 

3. signs - 4x6 - 4 different designs to be used in frames (not pictured above but here)

 

4. thank you cards - you receive a design that is measures 3.5 x 5 folded to send out after the party to all of your guests

5. Labels/ affirmations - food & drink - use these on the tables & to let all the guests be reminded of why they are wonderful! ;)

6. 'nugget' candy wraps - these are great to print out on sticker paper & wrap around Hershey nuggets as party favors or candy on the table

7. toppers/ circles / thank you tags - use for accents to your table decor - simply cut them out or use a punch, glue to lollipop stick or toothpick & done!

{Vendor Loving} for American Girl Birthday TEA

hello!

I wanted to share a few peeks with you today of the party that I am (hopefully) going to have all ready to post by next week! Life has been crazy these last couple of weeks & my superman cape is at the cleaners right now. ;)

 

 

I also wanted to take a moment to highlight & give a shout-out to the AMAZING & very generous people they wanted to collaborate with me on this party or people I bought items from. I just felt like they should have the SPOTLIGHT before I posted about the party as they so deserve it! =)

She designed these amazing cakepops that were such a hit with everyone! The teacups & the birds matched perfectly & did I mention they were chocolate? Oh yeah ;)

Erin happens to be one of my newest members on my blog TEAM, so I asked her if she was up for the challenge of making cookies to match  + making cookies for the girls + the dolls. She created these masterpieces plus made a whole separate batch that were "doll size" . . .just wait until you see them!
And did I mention they tasted sooooo good!
 
 

~  Jenny from Craft That Party ~

I had mentioned to Jenny when I was designing her logo & blog for her, that I wanted her to 'pencil me in' her schedule, so she could paint me a "girl & her dollie" pegs for my daughter's upcoming birthday party. How cute did these turn out? She did a fabulous job & I love the fact that you can use these little pegs anywhere . . . but I chose to put them on the cake. It was the PERFECT accent piece!

 

~ Melissa from Truly Chic Inspirations

Melissa owns a little shop called Tag Me Chic that has some amazing finds that she either makes or finds & sells in her shop. So when I spied these bad boys I knew they would be PERFECT for this party. She loves all things vintage & since I was "trying" to make this party modern-vintage, I knew checking her shop was on the list and these berry baskets were the total score! I loved them paired up with the cakepops . . . adore!!!!

~ Joanne from Oh Goodie Designs  ~

Joanne is one of those people who I have had on my 'list' of people that I wanted to work with. So I took this chance when I saw that carried these plates you can design with your designs, on them in her shop! The birthday girl LOVED it & especially since I saved it as a surprise for the party!

 

 

~ Bethany from Country Cupboard Cakes

I had been working with Bethany on her logo, Etsy shop & blog while I was planning my daughter's party, so when I found out she did fondant too, I asked her to make a few pieces for some ideas I had. One of the ideas I had was a couple pieces on top of the cake. A simple tea pot & a few flowers was all that was needed to go with the pegs & the birthday sign. It all fell into place.

Well of course you knoooooow I was going to have something from the Skylar Raine shop to share! Skylar of course, wore a custom headband at the party that you will see soon! But for now, I have a few things that will be coming to the shop soon that made their debut at this party! What is that on the left here . . . .handpainted mini cake stands?? YUP! And then do I spy a canvas painting with a signature "Skylar Raine" flower attached? Uh huh! AND then what would an American Girl birthday party TEA be without MATCHING hair clips for the girls AND their dolls? 

I am so excited to share this finally as this is just a few of the NEW items coming to the Skylar Raine shop, that I have been working on adding. Make sure you are a fan of that page so you don't miss anything. ;)

{PARTY PEEK} American Girl Birthday TEA party!

I have been dying to share some peeks from the birthday party that we just had for my daughter! Skylar, my baby, turned 10 a couple weeks ago & we celebrated with her party last Sunday. I can not believe MY baby is in double digits now. {sigh}  

 

She just LOVES her American Girl doll that she received for a Christmas gift a couple years ago from her meemaw & papa plus she has really been wanting to have a tea party as well, so the idea was combined & here we go! 

 

I wanted it to have the "American Girl" feel so hand drawn graphics were a must for this party design. Skylar picked the colors as we both wanted an American vibe without maybe having the traditional American colors. I love how it turned out!

I LOVE working with other 'party chicks' as it gives me the opportunity to work with some AMAZING women when I need something for a party. Sometimes I contact them just because I want to support them & get to know their work. I always try & do that with every party & I am glad I do, as I have found some amazing talent plus made some great friends - BONUS! ;)

I am still working on all editing all of the photos that I took from the party. When you take the photos yourself, it takes awhile to edit. wheww . . trust me! 

But I am "hopefully" going to be able to share all of the details soon along with some tutorials from this par-tay! So much was packed into this day for this child. We had such a great time. She said it was the BEST party yet.

It's all about the memories. As long as we give them the BEST memories when they are young, those will be the things they remember. The TIME we spent makin memories with them. The most precious gift we can offer.

EATS :: Easy Shortbread Cookie RECIPE

 Good morning, it’s Kimberley from Kimberley's Kitchen and we're having a "Tiny Tea Party" on the blog today!
 

I love tea. And cookies. And tiny tea cups. And tiny cookies.

My love of tea and cookies is evident in my daughters so we decided to have a tiny tea party together. It was easy to put together and would make a wonderful girly play date, Mother's Day celebration, or fun get together with your friends. Here are the ingredients for a Tiny Tea Party:

The Tea~

I am a bit of a tea purist. I do come by it honestly as my Mom is English. I grew up drinking tea. Hot tea, that is. Because I am in Canada we call "hot tea" just tea, and "cold tea" is iced tea. (I will share my favorite iced tea recipes this summer). 

My absolute favorite black tea is Earl Grey. We brewed some beautiful Tazo Earl Grey in this darling china tea pot to make a perfect cup of tea. But you can make any tea you like.

The Cookies~

A selection of homemade cookies are perfect for tea. Here we have Vanilla Sugar Cookies and Lemon Shortbread. Don't have time to bake? That's okay. You can buy some of your favorite cookies and when served on pretty little plates, everyone will enjoy each bite.

My favorite quick and easy shortbread recipe:

Cream together 2 sticks softened butter and 1 cup confectioner's sugar

Add 1 cup AP flour and 1 cup cornstarch

Add a pinch of salt

Add the flavor of your choice- 
1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 Tablespoon lemon zest, or 
1 Tablespoon of cardamom are my favorites

Pat into a round and roll between 2 pieces of parchment paper 
to 1/4 inch thickness

Cut into desired shapes and sprinkle tops with sugar

Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake in a 
350 degree oven for about 15 minutes

Cool on a wire rack

Enjoy!

The Sweets~

Add a little extra treat with some candies. I add marshmallows to every occasion but you can also add some of your favorite store-bought treats to go with your color theme. 

Thank You Favors~

Giving a sweet treat for your guests to take with you is so much fun. Here we have candies on skewers with a little thank you card on the skewer. I love the technique of punching holes in paper or card stock and then threading it onto a skewer or pop stick. Super easy and pretty.
