School's out for SUMMER!!!! whoohooooo!

It's officially SUMMER BREAK here in my house, we have completed the last week of school and I officially have an 8th grader kid starting in the fall! Someone please tell me HOW that happened?!?!?!

BUT for now, we are just looking forward to sleeping in, pool days, shopping, LOTS of girl days and time spent with friends and all of the FUN we can have this summer. 

A while back, we started doing something EVERY summer and it's turned into one of our favorite traditions: a Summer BUCKET LIST. If you have been a follower for awhile, you know I give you these every year and I so am hoping you are enjoying using them because I know we do. ;)

It's the perfect way to have your kids list the things that they would "like" to do, not to mention it is so nice to see what creative things they can dream up every summer. Does it mean they get to do it all? Well no, but it's a good opportunity to share with them how to come up with creative ways to maybe hit most of them. Take my advice . . . make those memories happen the best that you can for the summer, take whatever time you can to make it happen, enjoy it, be in the moment and ENJOY as they will LOVE spending the time with you and never forget this tradition every summer! Plus we all know our kids are ALL growing up at an alarming rate and will be gone before we know it. But I digress, no tears today, this is all about MAKING MEMORIES!!!! =)

This free download is easy to use as you will find that it comes with the year on it so you can save it for the scrapbooks (like I do) and can easily write down all of the things you want to do and check them off as you go! Because c'mon, the checking things off the list part is the BEST, am I right?

Luau Graduation Party :: REAL PARTIES

Aloha friends.   Every year we host a fun party for our friends and their mom’s to celebrate the end of the school year!  I was so excited to see a new collection come out of Laura’s shop in time for the end of the school year.  

 The GraduationLuau Collection is bright, fun and easy to decorate around.

This season one of the hottest trends is flamingos.  Of course, Laura is right on top of this fun trend.  She married up the flamingo with a graduation hat and there you go – instant Grad Luau! 

Coincidentally I already had a few boxes of luau decorations so I did not have to buy much for this soirée.  Using bright pinks, blues and yellows I transformed our patio to a Hawaiian Oasis. 

The weather was perfect and the children had the best time in the pool, competing in the hula hoop contest and gobbling down all the fun treats.

It’s been a real treat to see all the children growing up over the many years of our annual party.   I hope they all have a wonderful summer!

{SUMMER FUN IDEA} Family Movie Night

     

It's official! Summer has finally shown up in all its colors and glory! 

My mind goes 100 miles per minute and party ideas are flying from my pen to paper.  Today, I am sharing, with the followers of Eye Candy Creative Studio,  the first in a series of  three ways our family celebrates in the Summer months.    

Family Movie Night:  Our family does not go out to the movies.   

It’s not in our entertainment budget to spend upwards of $ 75 - $ 100 for the 5 of us to sit (quietly, yeah right),  eat overpriced and fattening food just to see a movie that is just released.   

Instead, we invested a few hundred dollars in an OutdoorMovie Screen (you can see it would pay for itself after about 3 trips to the cinema).  The projector is from a retail department store for $ 100 (this year we did invest in an upgrade and purchased a more state of the art projector, but the $ 100 worked great for the past 4 years). The other components were an old DVD Player and some wireless speakers (not expensive).    

Now our family can have Family Movie Night anytime we want to.  We can accommodate plenty of friends in our yard!  The food is what we prepare and the kids don’t have to sit quietly!  

You can easily watch the movie inside and still make some wonderful family memories!  Your local dollar store is a great place for popcorn containers and candy!  Throw down a few blankets and pillows on the floor and settle in for a fun night!
