School Memories Book

Hello everyone, it’s Wendy here from Scrappy Bags!  Happy Spring and believe it or not, the end of school is almost upon us.

My daughter has had a wonderful teacher this year for fourth grade and I was privileged to be one of her room moms for the year, so I wanted to do something extra special for her teacher.

I came up with putting together a scrapbook featuring each child on a page.  One beautiful spring day, I got my clearance from school principal and went in to recess to get a picture of each child.   I was lucky — they all cooperated and gave me great big smiles.   Got it done in one visit!

I printed all of the pics out in a 2 x 3 size. I already knew that I was going to use a SN@P binder from Simple Stories for this project.  The binder is a simple 6x8 three ring binder.  Very easy to work with!  I also picked up the Smarty Pants line of scrapbook paper by Simple Stories.  I love their paper and this was perfect for school memories!

For each child, I have the picture and I also added a small piece of paper for journaling.  Each child will jot down their favorite memory from this year.  This is all in the works at the moment.  Hope you enjoy some pics of what I’ve completed so far.  Enjoy!

REAL PARTY :: a Bridal Luncheon

     

A Bridal Luncheon

I am so excited to be bringing you this soiree today.  

Working with Laura on the invite to my soon-to-be daughter in law’s bridal luncheon was so much fun.  Laura told me she wanted to make this extra special. I gave her some ideas of what I was thinking in my scattered brain. She came up with this!

 

PERFECT in every way.  

Theme:  “Having A Ball Since 2009”

Color Scheme:  Light Pink, Blush, Gold and Burlap

I was so excited for the day to finally come.  It was a small affair with only 7 of us. (we have a small family)   We shared funny stories, tips for a happy marriage and swooned over her personal gifts from everyone. 

I was so happy with how everything turned out.   From the invites to the cookies – all was perfect for this special lunch.  

 Laura also surprised me with this burlap hand written BRIDE banner.  It was the extra touch needed.  The bride to be even took it home to hang it in her bridal suite for the wedding weekend! 

I can’t wait to share the entire wedding with you all at the end of the month.  Until then – Be Blessed

RECIPE :: Easy Peanut Butter Granola Bars

Easy Peanut Butter Granola Bars

Granola Bars are the quintessential lunch box snack, and these easy granola bars help you put a healthy version in your little one's tummy. If peanuts are a concern, you can sub in almond butter or any homemade nut butter. 

Recipe

(makes 9 large square bars)

~ Preheat oven to 325 degrees. 

~ Prepare a square baking pan by lining with parchment paper with paper up the sides to easily remove the bars.

~ Mix in a large bowl, 2 cups whole oats, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 1 egg, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1/4 cup organic sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. 

~ Mix until incorporated and spread in a flat layer in prepared pan.

~ Bake for 30-35 minutes.

~ Remove from oven and allow pan to cool on wire rack. 

~ Once cooled, gently lift paper out and place on cutting board. 

~ Cut bars with a serrated knife and store in a sealed container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

Bake Like a Pro Tip

Parchment Paper is an amazing tool for bakers. It is now widely available in grocery stores and is an excellent option for lining pans and cookie sheets without adding extra oil to a recipe. It also allows you to avoid non-stick bake ware if you are concerned about the health and safety of such surfaces. I often re-use my parchment sheets that were used for baking cookies, as the paper stays relatively clean if not baked at a high temperature.
