Easter Egg Holder

Hippity Hop! Easter is coming soon and I have a fun craft to share with you!

easter eggs, easter crafting, washi tape, easter project, kids craft

Today I have a quick tutorial for your Easter table.  You can use these egg holders as place card holders, writing names on the eggs or just on your centerpiece for your Easter dinner.  I am thinking I will use at the “children’s” table for our Easter dinner.

Supplies:   toilet paper or paper towel roll, some washi tape and scissors.

First I cut the toilet paper roll about ½ down all around the tube.
Then I opened up the cuts so it looks like a flower.
Then alternating your washi tape,  tape along each cut from the bottom of the roll all the way over the top and over the roll. Covering all the cardboard.
That’s it!

Then embellish with some shredded grass or leave plain.  Place your hardboiled or plastic egg inside and enjoy!

What I love about this easy craft:  the children can help and it’s recycling something that most of us discard!

Until next time – Enjoy your Spring and Party On!

One Little Word 2014 :: CREATE

the definition of create, chalkboard art, create, one little word

Verb : to make or produce (something) unique
: to evolve from one's own imagination
: to cause (something new) to exist

Noun :: the act of creating
:: something created

Synonyms :: build, design, devise, discover, make, organize, plan, produce, start, imagine
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I love the concept of picking ONE LITTLE WORD to keep me motivated for the year. I used to do a goal sheet every year but that just became depressing when I didn't achieve everything on it so I stopped doing that. I do love goal lists, but in this season of my life, right now, I needed something new. Then came along the genius idea of doing ONE LITTLE WORD and I jumped on board. Last year I chose HOPE as it was only fitting because what I had been going through personally & health-wise and I loved that word. Still do. HOPE is such a powerful word.

BUT this year, this year's word is perfect for my life this season. And YES it took me like 3 months to figure it out (don't laugh-lol) but it's all good. My One Little Word for 2014 is going to be  . . .

CREATE.

:: " It is better to create than learn. Creating is the essence of life!" ~ Julius Caesar

:: " Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." ~ George Bernard Shaw
:: " Creativity is contagious, pass it on." ~ Albert Einstein

sprinkles spell the word create, one little word, #OLW

CREATE. What does this mean to me?

I am getting back to my roots persay. What I was trained in & studied all of those school & college years ago. I'm going all "organic" on you. Back to my roots. My first loves. This is the time to get back to basics. Getting back to what gets makes me feel alive. Good old fashioned ART. This is why I love the word CREATE as it has the word ART right in it . . . so it's the perfect word for me this year. It means I will CREATE in various ways . . . whether creating in different organic mediums . . . acrylics, pastels, ink, watercolor , markers . . . to make a finished piece of art to sell to the masses . . . you will see me offer my artwork a variety of ways soon & it will all be organic & raw and I am so looking forward to sharing it all with you.

I will be sharing how I will CREATE a better home. I have put so soo sooo many home projects on the back burner for so long and this year it stops. I started last summer and I will continue to knock them off the list. It feels so good to finally be able to get those done.

I will share yummy treats that I CREATE in the kitchen. I LOVE to bake so you may see a creation or two here. ;)

create spelled out with candy conversation hearts, one little word

Create. Is MY word for the remainder of the year. Heck, if you've been paying attention, this word is NOW part of my NEW name "Eye Candy CREATive Studio" . . . it fits better. It encompasses all that I will be talking about & sharing with you on here. I'm excited for this challenge I have given myself and I totally am ok with the fact that it's a few months slow getting started. Out with all the rules and just start. Start creating. Start making things. Start finding what makes you passionate. For me it's to CREATE.

I would LOVE to hear from you and know if you are doing the "One Little Word" this year and what exactly YOUR word is? Perhaps you will start now with me . . .if you do, let me know that too below . . . let's do this. ;)

COLLECTION :: Hoppy Birthday | Easter Birthday

hoppy birthday, easter birthday party, easter bunny, illustration, spring

Today I am sharing a brand new collection with you, as I was asked to design a variation of the "Hoppy Easter" collection that would be suitable for a birthday party around Easter. I used the same elements from the Hoppy Easter collection and adapted it for a birthday and then added an invite. I kept the bunny illustration that I did for this collection as well as the orange and green color scheme to keep the natural organic feel. So now we have an adorable Easter bunny birthday collection. Bring on the candles. =)

3 Easter Project IDEAS Using Printables

3 Easter Project IDEAS using Printables
by Wendy

Hi, it’s Wendy here & today I have some fun and different ideas using Laura’s Hoppy Easter collection for you! I want to show you three easy Easter project ideas using these printables!

First up I made a adorable tissue box holder.  I grabbed one of those wooden tissue boxes at Michaels and some Martha Stewart paint “putty” that matched Laura’s Hoppy Easter paper perfectly.  I painted the box, then trimmed down the Hoppy Easter sign from Laura’s collection and modge podged it to the box.

On the opposite side of the box I modge podged a bunny that I cut using my Silhouette Cameo.   For some extra fun, I added a little piece of cotton for the bunny’s cute little tail!

Next up I made some cards using the paper from Laura’s collection. I usually  make cards with paper bags, but I went for the traditional 3 1/2 x 5 cards this time.   I think they turned out super cute.  I again cut some smaller bunnies with my Silhouette and added some cotton for their tails as well.

Since I live in Hershey, my nieces and nephews know that they will always receive something from Hershey’s Chocolate at holiday time.  Of course, I cannot let them down!  Using part of the collection, I made some candy bar wrappers for Hershey bars and finished them off with an orange ribbon.

Hope you enjoyed these cute ideas with Laura’s Hoppy Easter Collection!
