FREEBIE :: Fall Gift Tags

The FALL season is here!!!! Can I get an AMEN!!?!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the FALL season as it is my favorite time of the year - especially since I live in Ohio & get the advantage of actually seeing FOUR seasons. Cool crisp nights where you need a light jacket but can still wear flip flops with your jeans . . . that IS the perfect weather to me! ;)

As I was trying to decide what to design for you all this month, I decided how cool would it be to have some FALL tags on hand that are pretty general & can be used for a variety of things but yet have a cute saying on them? So here they are!!! These would look great on a fresh baked loaf of bread that you are gifting to a friend. Or attached to a bouquet of fall blooms to send in to your kid's teacher to say thanks. Or a small bag of pumpkins given to your sister to use for her crafting needs. I would love to hear what you are going to use them for! ;)

{PUPPY LOVE} So . . . we got a puppy

Have you seen a CUTER face than this?! I mean seriously, he had me at first glance. Those eyes . . . {sigh} ;)

I would like you all to meet the newest addition to our family: Chili! He is a Maltipoo-chi. Yes it's kind of a 'newer breed' (I guess) as most people I have told respond with the . . . "a what? never heard of that one!" lol . . . his momma is a MaltiPoo & his daddy is a Chihauhau. So basically he is Italian-French-Mexican. What a mix right? But a cute one at that! For sure!

He is about 10.5 weeks old. His birthday was June 5th, so he's a Gemini too. lol My husband & I have our birthdays literally a week apart at the end of May so now we will be partying for like a month straight since this little guy's will be just a week later than mine. Whoo-hooo . . .guess I'll just plan to take a whole month off right now! ;)

Were we in the "market" to get a pup? No. I LOVE dogs. Heck I would own a few of them if I could but as of right now, my family & I live in a condo so my policy on 'no-dogs-until-we-get-a-house' always was on my mind. We are praying things work out & we DO get a house soon & can move here in the next year or so . . . that was when I promised my daughter we could think about a dog. You see, I am one of those who don't think it's fair to have dogs UNLESS they have a place to run, play in a yard, etc. But then my husband started asking me too . . .what about a little dog? Well . . . it changed from no, to we'll see. ;)

So how did I find Chili? My friend, Matt, has this dog . . . a Maltipoo & she had pups & I just happen to run into him right after she did. And he had pics of the pups. Then I started thinking . . . well this IS a very tiny dog & how awesome would it be to give my daughter the BIGGEST thing she has ever asked for & been wanting for, like years?!!!! Pretty cool indeed!!!!! She was in LOVE with him. Guess who just won "Mom of the year" award?
Yeah . . .ahhhhh . . .what can I say? lol

Love this picture . . . his first shopping trip! lol Train 'em young right? ;) See what he picked out? That green faced friend of his is his FAVE right now!

He's had a busy first few days here & is realizing that I LOVE LOVE LOVE to take pics of him! He loves it . . . can't ya tell? Already posing for the camera . . .
the shy pose, profile pose & the 'when-I-do-this-face-I-get-whatever-I-want' pose!

I have not had a dog in almost 10 years & I am so glad we added him to our family this week. Has it been an adjustment? Sure as there is LOTS for him to learn but ya know what? He's one smart little pup. He's doing pretty good potty training, knows a couple commands fairly well, loves to play & loves small pieces of crushed ice! He comes running anytime someone is getting crushed ice from the fridge! lol He's sleeping through the night without whining & adjusting quite well in my opinion. It has definitely been a week of "firsts" for him.

I hope you have enjoyed these pics of my new little ECED's mascot! LOL Oh yes. He will be working with me on some projects that I have up my sleeve already! He will be fun to work with . . . in between all of his puppy naps! That Chili is so silly! ;)

I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations on a couple things: I would LOVE any advice on good organic puppy treats. I want to make sure he has good, healthy treats & give him what's best for his well being, so what do you use? I also welcome any tips on potty training or breaking the chewing habit with puppies . . . he's doing well with it but any good advice that you used would be greatly appreciated. Potty training I've been told, is just being consistent but I actually had a neighbor tell us today that she trained her small dog to potty on paper - like always! Never went outside! Is that crazy or not so much? Also I got him a teething bone to help with chewing . . . he likes it but doesn't work all the time but I am sure nothing does.

I do want to THANK my friend Matt for letting me adopt this little boy! I can't imagine NOT having him now. THANK YOU MATT!!!! ;)

I would love the feedback! Anything you want to share . . . places I need to check out for puppy supplies . . . or maybe you have a puppy that looks like Chili! Let me know that too . . .
Until next time . . .Chili says "nice to meet ya". xoxo

WEDDING :: NEON BRIGHTS wedding inspiration board

Hello everyone & welcome to "Wedding Wednesday"!

neon wedding, neon decor, neon wedding inspiration, candy, neon party

::   bouquet  ::  flasks  ::  garland  ::  bridesmaid dress  ::  candy bar
::  table numbers  ::  calligraphy  ::  button candy  ::

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Today I wanted to treat you to a special inspiration board: a NEON wedding inspiration board. Some of you may be thinking . . . that is just too crazy or that is sooooo 1980's but here's the thing, I have fought the neon craze myself for awhile now & guess what? I am starting to think it's kinda cool . . . BUT in small doses. For example, my daughter went to school today with the cutest little tan ballet flats on but they had just a touch of neon yellow on the tops & backs of the shoe. It was enough but not too in your face - ya know?

It got me thinking . . . a wedding would be FAB with small touches of neon. Picture it with me . . . an all white wedding . . .maybe even the furniture, table linens, everything is WHITE & then bam! Pops of neon here & there to give it that modern edge to an otherwise all white wedding. This would also be the perfect solution for someone who does not want to commit to just one color. I think adding about 4 neon colors to a white palette is the perfect solution for that! ;)

Have you ever been to a wedding that had touched of neon sprinkled throughout? Are you planning any kind of party or even a wedding with neon? I would LOVE to hear the details . . .spill below ;)

CRAFT :: How to make CHALKBOARDS

art party chalkboards, how to make a chalkboard, kids art party, chalk

Today I am sharing with you, "How To Make" the Chalkboards that we had as party favors for the Art Party Picnic. I hope you have all had a chance to check out all the details from that awesome good time but if not, make sure to go over & see all the 'eye candy'. The kids used these to draw on before we had our picnic snacks & then, they were able to take them home with them. So soooo FUN!

art party picnic chalkboards, how to make a homemade chalkboard
supplies needed to make a chalkboard, foam board, chalk paint, duck tape

These chalkboards are one of the easiest favors to make & much more fun than buying them, especially because you can choose the size you want these to be!

SUPPLIES:
~ foam board (I bought 2 & just pick the size you want, as I just picked the largest board & cut in 1/2 to create 4 chalkboards total)
~ chalkboard paint
~ duck tape (color of your choice - I chose neon green & pink to match the party)
~ utility knife
~ paint brush

1. cut the foam board into the size "chalkboards" you would like
2. paint one side with chalkboard paint & let dry
3. 'finish' the edges off with the colored duck tape
4. 'season' the boards by taking a piece of chalk, turn it on it's side & rub it over the entire board - erase & it's ready to go!

Want to learn How-To Make Marshmallow Chalk? This was a HUGE hit with the kids as they thought it was a hoot to get to eat their box of "chalk".

RECIPE :: Cranberry Ginger Breakfast Bites

back to school, breakfast ideas, breakfast bites, healthy breakfast
Cranberry Ginger Breakfast Bites
I love back-to-school season. There is something about new clothes and supplies and fall flavors that I just love. But it is also a time of life getting busy and resolutions of eating better. Breakfast always seems to be a challenge for families. Trying to find the time or even have an appetite first thing in the morning can prove to be obstacles to getting breakfast in little tummies.
I started making this recipe years ago, before kids, when my husband needed a "breakfast" that was easy to eat early in morning at work. I have adapted it over the years, making it healthier and now smaller to suit little ones.

cranberries, ginger, healthy snack idea, lunch ideas, school snack

These breakfast bites are packed with healthy ingredients, with very little sugar, and pack easy in lunch bags and pockets. And the fact that they look like cookies helps too! They also freeze well so you can do yourself a favor and make a double batch and pop them in plastic bags in the freezer and be proud of your back-to-school preparations.

Recipe for Cranberry Ginger Breakfast Bites
- 15 minutes prep times; 40 minutes bake time
(this recipe makes 12-24 bites, depending on the size you scoop to bake)

 - Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In one bowl, mix the following: 1 egg, 1/2 cup sugar, 5 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- Add to the bowl: 1/2 cup oats, 1/4 cup bran, 1 1/2 cups flour, 2 Tablespoons ground flaxseed, 2 Tablespoons poppy seeds, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- Mix to combine and add 1/2 cup milk
- Drop dough on lined baking sheet- I used tablespoon scoops to make small bites but you could make these larger if you wish
- Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until slightly browned on edges (repeat with remaining dough)
- Remove from oven and allow to cool on wire rack
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days
or freeze in bags for up to 3 months

Enjoy!
