DECOR :: Black & White Halloween Mantel

black and white Halloween decor ideas, EEK letters, wreath, 31 pumpkin

Today I wanted to share with you a quick peek into my home so you could see what I did for my mantle for Halloween. I decided I would do a black and white Halloween mantle for this year. My living toom is already black and white with accents of lime green in it so I wanted to keep with that color scheme and see what I could come up with, especially when trying NOT using orange. I think it's pretty modern and chic if I do so so. ;)

Like I mentioned, I like to use things I already have. For instance, the green fall bunting wreath hanging from the mirror you may remember from my front door last year. I decided a pop of green was needed plus I like to hang wreaths from that mirror. The 'BOOyah' sign you have already seen too as I had it as a FREE printable already at the beginning of the season. Feel free to hop on over there and print one out for yourself.

I did do a couple little new things for this though. Like this pumpkin. Found it in the dollar section at Target and painted it white, used a green paint marker to draw a '31' on there, added a bow and BOOM - done!

I also added a new 'word art'. I love creating them and the "EEK" I decided on a few months ago when I was at Target picking up these letters on clearance. Yup. Remember those cork letters Target had at the beginning of the school year? Well when they went on clearance, I snagged these (and more) to make some fun art for next to nothing. I just painted the EEK white and then did the same glitter process like I shared with this FALL project.

Here's the FULL shot of it. I am really digging the black and white this year. What colors did YOU decorate in this year? Let me know below as I love hearing what others are doing too. ;)

Halloween Decor :: On a Budget

budget friendly halloween decor ideas, decorating for halloween, spooky

Halloween on a Dollar Store Budget!

Halloween is around the corner and it’s my ALL TIME Favorite holiday to craft and decorate for!  (even over Christmas)
Today I am sharing easy DIY Halloween Décor using dollar store items ONLY!
Plates, plastic wine glasses, beads, candles, goodie bags and more…all there for the crafting!

Halloween entertaining does not have to break the bank.   Using my Silhouette Cameo I was able to take dollar store items and transform them into Halloween décor.  Don’t have a Silhouette? That’s ok..you can use stickers and even Sharpie Markers to embellish these items.

The candles were plain white and using some black vinyl I cut out a few spooky silhouettes to add to them.   Adding this black cloth was the touch I needed for my outdoor candle shelf.  Love the look!

I must have a dozen themed wine glasses (don’t judge). I like to have them for various occasions and holidays.  I found these clear plastic “glasses” and using the vinyl I added these cool creepy silhouettes to them.  Bonus for me, hard to break these!

Goodie bags can be fun to decorate.  Sticking to my mission of only using dollar store items, I added some eyes to these white goodie boxes (found in the wedding section).  I so wanted to use Washi Tape, but they had none and I was not going to “cheat’ and use my own stash.   Filling them with some traditional peanut butter candy (of course from the dollar store). Added a little color too!

The last thing on my list to do was a centerpiece wreath.  Using the dollar store wreath form, some glue and moss – it was easy!  Added the boney hand and some spider rings to top it off.   You can hang or use like I did on the table.  The black runner that is under this is also from the dollar store.

There you have it….creating spooky Halloween fun on a dollar store budget!

Until next time – BOO!

DECOR :: Fall Mantel Decorating

FALL letters, falll wreath, frall decor ideas, fall tree, pumpkins

Today I am sharing my FALL mantel for this year with you. I have been sharing new FALL projects all week that have given you 'peeks' into what it looks like, but today I will share the full mantel with you. I really LOVE my mantel in the living room as it makes for such a great place to 'theme' for the holidays and different seasons. It's great to hang stockings from, decorate for the fall or Halloween and even at Easter time.

I love being able to mix in new, completed craft projects with my older decor items to give it a fresh new look! Plus I enjoy making them and it costs me hardly anything but the supplies and a little of my time!

Personally I believe the key to establishing a well balanced and cohesive look on a mantel is layering. You always want to have varying heights with your decor pieces and try to group them in odd numbers. From there it's just a matter of trying out different pieces together to see what groupings look the best together!

and here is the FULL shot of it. I love the stone surrounding it - that is my FAVE part of having this fireplace - I think it's pretty sweet.
