CRAFT :: Washi Tape EASTER Eggs

crafting with washi tape, how to make washi tape easter eggs, easter

Hello party friends – It’s Melissa here!  It will be Easter and Spring before you know it and I am so excited for the first flowers to bloom in our yard!

We have a lot of traditions in our home but sadly, egg dying for Easter is not one of them. I don’t mind the kids getting messy at all but for some reason they never attached themselves to egg dying 8(   I have a new trick up my sleeve this year!

Washi Eggs!!! – WHY NOT? RIGHT!

(if you know me, you know I am a Washi Tape gal – I find ways to sneak it into every party I plan..hehehe)

What you will need:  Washi Tape and Eggs (either fake, hardboiled or you can even use hollow eggs that you blew out the yokes.)

For purposes of this tutorial I am using “fake” plastic eggs that I purchased at a craft store.

supplies needed to make washi tape easter eggs, eggs

Step 1 – get out all that Washi Tape that you have been collecting in your drawer and lay it all out.

Step 2 – enlist the help of your friends, kids or maybe even your hubby to help tear the tape

Step 3 – adhere tape to eggs.  It won’t all “sit” pretty without ripples – but that is Ok 8)

Step 4 – Go to Town! Keep covering and overlapping the washi tape – don’t be afraid to mix up the colors, patterns, sizes

Step 5 – Display!

I think the kids did a fabulous job on the eggs and they had a great time doing it! Of course no mess with this decorating project! You can keep the eggs (if they are fake like mine) for years to come (I might even spray at little glossy finish to them before I put them away) or crack ‘em open and make egg salad after Easter!

Until next time  - Party On Friends!

SIPS :: St. Patty's Day Shamrock-a-Tini

cocktail recipe, st pattys day cocktail, shamrock cocktail, how to make

Hello everyone . . .. it's time for COCKTAILS WITH CINECA!

St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner & I couldn't be more excited! I pull out my 'Kiss Me I'm Irish' t-shirt, watch Boondock Saints (for the 777th time) and get my annual 4 leaf clover tattoo in memory of my little brother. It may not be the way everyone celebrates St. Patty's Day, but it's my tradition...and I love it!

I'll admit, I also attempt to catch that silly leprechaun. I've never found his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but I may have found something better. A deliciously green St. Patty's Cocktail...
The Shamrock-a-Tini
Ingredients:
4 ounces good Vodka (Skyy, Ketel One or Grey Goose)
2 ounces Apple Pucker
2 ounces Midori Liqueur
Maraschino cherries, for garnish

Directions:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice
Add Vodka, Pucker & Midori
Shake, Shake, Shake Your Money Maker
Pour into two chilled martini glasses
Garnish with a maraschino cherry

Happy St. Patrick's Day, my friends! Cheers to a year full of Luck O' The Irish!

{CRAFTY TIP TUESDAY} Washi Tape Utensils

Top O’ The Mornin’ To Y’all!
It’s Melissa O’Newell stopping by Eye Candy Event Details to bring you a quick fun budget party tutorial!

Washi Tape Utensils
Washi Tape is a very thin paper tape that seems to come in 100’s of patterns and colors. I am obsessed with using it to brighten up any party!
If you are not familiar with Japanese Washi Tape then you are missing out! OR maybe you bought that cute little tape and still have not found a use for it!  You are in LUCK!

All I did for this quick fun idea is take my plain old plastic utensils and pick three different patterns of Washi Tape.

Covered them long wise and pressed down good.  The tape seems to stick VERY well to plastic. (unlike the wooden utensils where it does seem to come up more often than not).

There you have it – fun party ware!  I love mixing up the patterns. The kids seem to really love them and I just love the pop of color it adds to the party.  I would pair with a white plate so that the colors pop out more!

Have a great St. Patrick’s Day and until next time…Party On Friends!
