RECIPE :: Skittles Dunk the Rainbow Bark

To say my husband loves basketball would be an understatement. We are a home that loves sports but basketball season is one of his faves. The March basketball season is upon us and he takes watching his favorite team seriously. It also helps that his favorite team just happens to be one of the better ones (thankfully), so he stays pretty happy all season long! I love to make fun treats to munch on, so making a new treat to go along with my hubs love of basketball was a must!

On my latest trip to Sam's Club picking up a few things, I noticed this bag of Skittles and immediately had an idea of a fun treat to make that everyone could enjoy while watching basketball plus this would surely make basketball sweeter right?! I love Skittles by themselves but I wanted to make something quick and easy for game day, plus it had to be delish!

Well here is what I came up with using those Skittles. Are you ready to dunk the rainbow, taste the rainbow?

I give you "Dunk the Rainbow Bark' . . . a.k.a. the perfect treat to munch on while getting our game on! I mean seriously it it so good! You have to try it as it is so simple to make . . . just TWO ingredients: white chocolate and Skittles! That's it. It's only madness if you don't have Skittles! ;) And trust me, this was a slam dunk with the family!

Skittles Dunk the Rainbow Bark recipe:

Only 2 ingredients are needed to make this:
- Skittles
- 12 oz. bag of white chocolate chips or I used Wilton candy melts

Directions:
- crush up 1/2 cup of Skittles
- place wax paper inside of a 9x9 pan or one of your choice and spray to prevent it from sticking
- melt candy melts according to the directions on the package and pour into prepared pan
- sprinkle the crushed Skittles across the melted chocolate
- refrigerate for about 1/2 hour until solid
- once hardened, remove from pan and peel off wax paper and break into pieces or cut them with a knife - whichever you prefer

Place on your favorite dish or cake stand (in this case) because basketball treats can get a little fancy right? I sprinkled some Skittles around the bark plus filled some mini basketball bowls with some Skittles so they could easily be grabbed while watching the games.

What is your favorite Skittles flavor? If you love Skittles just as much as we do, make sure to follow them on facebook at www.facebook.com/Skittles or see more fun and ideas over here at Skittles Tourney.

 Instructions
  1. Prepare microwave popcorn as stated on package & place in shallow pan.
  2. On medium heat, melt the bag of mini marshmallows, stirring occasionally to ensure they don't burn. Add butter & vanilla, stirring constantly until mixed. Remove from heat.
  3. Pour mixture over the popcorn in the pan and gently mix together with a greased spoon to prevent sticking.
  4. Melt your cup of baking discs or chips per the directions on the package.
  5. Drizzle melted chocolate over the marshmallow popcorn mixture.
  6. Place the black Sixlets intentionally on popcorn before the chocolate hardens to create "eyeballs". Sprinkle the rest over the pan of popcorn.
  7. Before putting in the FREE popcorn boxes, and once the chocolate hardens, break into pieces as the mixture will stick and create big pieces, just pull them into bite size pieces that work for you.
  8. ENJOY the delicious-ness!

This popcorn was such a hit with my family that it was gone within a couple days! My daughter asked me to pack some in her lunch every day for a treat and she even had her friend, whom she shared with, asking where I got it. When she told them I made it, her friend said, "your mom is magical". Best compliment ever! ;)

Make sure to download these FREE Baymax popcorn boxes too before watching Big Hero 6 (again)! Will you be making this recipe for your next movie night? What kind of popcorn does your family enjoy?

FREEBIE :: Baymax Popcorn Boxes - Big Hero 6

** This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and it's advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.  #BigHero6MovieNight #CollectiveBias

big hero 6 popcorn boxes, movie night idea, disney, big hero 6 movie night

I love a really good animated movie for movie nights at home! Especially the kind where you want to watch it again and again and Big Hero 6 WAS that kind of movie. I mean hellooooooo it DID win 'best animated' movie at some awards show, so it had to be good right? ;)

My daughter and I missed seeing it when it was on the big screen so there wasn't a chance I was going to miss it when it came out on DVD. So one day last week, right after school, during our weekly trip to Target, we made sure to pick up our copy of Big Hero 6.

BigHero6Release, movie night, free download, popcorn box, baymax

The thing is, I kinda maybe sorta like to plan a party or two every now and then, so I wanted to make our family movie night just a little more special. So that is when I decided that I would gather some supplies to make a yummy treat and design a cool container to put it in. Plus I had a pretty good feeling that Baymax would end up being my fave from the movie, so I went with creating a Baymax popcorn mix AND a fun popcorn box that we could put our popcorn in while watching our new favorite movie!

Do you want to know the BEST part? . . . I have these Baymax popcorn boxes available for you all today as a FREE download! So the next time you are getting ready to watch this movie, just simply print these out for your popcorn and enjoy!

STEPS for assembling Baymax popcorn boxes:

1. First, click on the Baymax popcorn boxes link that you see here or throughout this post. Then select the quantity of prints you want, knowing that these boxes come one, on a sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper & then hit print!

2. Gather a couple supplies after printing. You will need a pair of scissors and a glue stick or double sided tape, just something to keep it together.

3. Cut out the box following the directions on the print out. I have also indicated where you are to glue plus where the folds go.

4. Follow the directions as to where to fold the box, I recommend using the straight edge of a ruler to help you fold in the right spots plus it will give you a nice crisp edge on your folds.

5. Using your glue stick, glue your folded edges together to the body of the box until you see it form into your Baymax popcorn box! Then all you have left to do is load those babies up with some amazing popcorn!

I want to share with you, one last tip, on printing these Baymax popcorn boxes, because I wondered, as you may have as well, what kind of paper should you use when printing? I printed both of these at home and I did one on heavier card stock paper (the box you see in the front of all of the photos) and I also tried printing and assembling a box using only normal printer paper that we all have. I actually was surprised it held up pretty good, as it's the box you see on the cake stands or in the background in this post. So don't let having just regular printer paper stop you from having some fun printing these popcorn boxes for your Baymax popcorn! Either will work just fine but honestly the heavier card stock is always going to serve you best! That's the way I would go ;)
