This week's theme is all about falling leaves. The leaves are changing everywhere around me and it is my most favorite time of year. One of the things I love most is the change in colors. The palette of colors that you can see on trees right now is just breathe taking, so alas, my inspiration for this week. Enjoy!

I am in so in love with the idea of writing the names of your guests, on leaves, and using them as placecards. It's a beautiful way to incorporate leaves into your fall affair. Carrying a bouquet of flowers accented with some vibrant leaves intertwined, creating a boutonniere for your man or designing a gorgeous display of flowers & leaves to use as centerpieces on the tables is the easiest way to celebrate the season. Love monograms? . .then this idea to create an initial with leaves adhered to them, is an amazing idea in using your new initial on your special day. Your guests will love lighting the night with sparklers from this quaint little basket adorned with some fall foliage. Make sure to set the tone of the day & evening by incorporating leaves into the invite you send out. Remember it is the first hint of what an amazing time your guests will have when they come to your fall wedding. ;)

Have you ever been to a fall wedding? Did YOU have one or are you planning one? Did they have leaves everywhere? What was your favorite element of the event?  I would LOVE to hear the details . . .spill below ;)

RECIPE :: Thankful Trail Mix

Thankful Trail Mix
by Melissa

Now that Halloween is behind us, it’s time to start talking Thanksgiving! For my family, Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks, football, lots of food and family!

One of my MUSTS for a successful Thanksgiving is keeping the kids busy!  One way I love to do that is to let them help me put together a Thankful Trail Mix. Not only does it keep them busy making it, but also eating it!   While I am in the kitchen preparing the meal, they are all sharing the duties of the putting together the Thankful Trail Mix.

What I like to do is put a handful of a lot of fun finger food goodies on plates and let the kids go crazy filling cute little treat cups.  These I found at the dollar spot at Target. I loved the owls and falling leaves!

I like to use some healthy, some sweet and some salty snacks for a great mix!  I am using raisins or craisins, butterscotch morsels, peanut butter coated candies, nuts, fishy crackers, and popcorn in my mix this year.  Great color, good texture and great taste!

Make sure the treat boxes are not that big so that they will save room for dinner!  It’s hard to resist the mix! Be warned, the adults might be sneaking some from the table also!

BONUS TIP:  You can use these on the “kids table” for place settings. Here I used a cute paper pendant flag and wrote my daughter’s name on it.

What traditions do you have at Thanksgiving?  I would love to hear about them!

Easy Apple Pie in a Jar Recipe
by Kimberley

Who doesn't love apple pie? I think pretty much everyone LOVES apple pie. And it is a staple at family gatherings and holidays. I always bring a dessert to a party and, as you know, I am a little obsessed with putting food in jars. So... I had to come up with a way to make a quick and easy apple pie in a jar that you could take to a party or serve at your next get-together.

You do not need to be an accomplished baker to pull this off. In fact, it is so easy but so impressive that your guests will love it!
This recipe makes 4 jars, but you can easily double or triple to make lots for a party.

Supplies and Ingredients:

4 glass jars (or you can use ramekins, dessert bowls, drinking glasses)

1 sheet of frozen puff pastry

1 can of apple pie filling (or 1 cup homemade)

1/2 stick of melted butter

4 Tablespoons of sugar

1/2 cup whipped cream or 4 small scoops of vanilla ice cream (optional)

To prepare:

-gather your jars and ensure they are clean and dry

-defrost one sheet of frozen puff pastry

-preheat oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with a Silpat or parchment paper

-roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured counter until it is 8 x 11 inches approximately

-brush surface with 2/3 of your melted butter, sprinkle with 3 Tablespoons sugar

-roll dough starting on a long side until completely rolled up

-slice crosswise into 12 slices

-roll each slice flat until about 2 inches in diameter and place on baking sheet; brush with remaining melted butter and sprinkle with sugar

-bake for approximately 30 minutes or until lightly brown and flaky

-remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack

-open can of filling

-place one pastry in bottom of jar, top with a scoop of apple pie filling; repeat with pastry, filling, pastry

-assemble remaining jars

-cover lightly with plastic wrap until ready to serve

-serve with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired

Enjoy!

WEDDING :: Farm wedding inspiration board

Hello everyone & welcome to "Wedding Wednesday"!

wood crates, cownoy boots, horse, wedding dress, cookie jars, horseshoes

::  flower decor  ::  boots  ::  horse   ::  cookie jars  ::  cake topper  ::  dress   ::  escort cards

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Is this board just gorgeous or what? Since we have been talking about parties on the farm & cowboys on the blog this week, I only thought it appropriate to bring you an inspiration board that is down right rustic. And a lil bit of western. The look of a barn wedding mixed with a touch of cowboy = the perfect wedding inspiration
for a farm wedding!

Just imagine a neutral color palette with some vibrant color added in. Bales of hay for your guests to sit on or to use as decor. Kick up your heels by wearing your cowboy boots under your dress. Have your favorite horse serve as ring bearer. Decorate with lots of burlap and lace for that 'down home' feeling. Instead of a candy bar, do it up by having all of your favorite cookies stashed in jars for your guests to enjoy. Lace, lace and more lace is the perfect dress for this country wedding. Send your guests home with these horse shoe escort cards that allow them to find their table with ease and serve as a reminder of the fab night they are about to have. ;)

Have you ever been to a farm wedding? Did YOU have one or are you planning one? What was your favorite element of the event?  I would LOVE to hear the details . . .spill below ;)
