{SNEAK PEEK} the THEME of my daughter's birthday!

I am so excited to FINALLY be able to share the theme of my daughter's birthday party for this year!

The theme is an "American Girl Birthday party TEA".

She just LOVES her American Girl doll that she received for a Christmas gift a couple years ago from her memaw & papa plus she has really been wanting to have a tea party as well, so the idea was combined & here we go!

I always ask for her input on these parties & she wanted "teal" for sure & wanted to use those "little tea cups" to drink from. lol

When I was researching on the American Girl doll site, a couple things came to mind:

1. to design a theme to look like an American Girl doll theme withOUT looking like an American Girl party
2. incorporate a couple of their colors: red and pink
3. NOT call it an 'American Girl' party
4. maybe do some illustration of the graphics to make it "look" like the style of American Girl
5. not make it 'too young' looking (my daughter is turning 10)

So after much thought, I decided to use a color scheme of a pale teal (like my daughter requested) and red as the MAIN colors & then add hot pink, pale pink & champagne as accent colors.
I also illustrated all of the graphics to keep with the "feel" of American Girl & tried to give it a more 'grown-up' look for the invite.

I had fun over the last couple of days getting started on all the fun things I am making for her party as well as finding some really cute things to incorporate!

You will see that the decor is what I am calling modern vintage-y.
Lots of lace . . . flowers . . . burlap . . . mason jars . . . more flowers . . . tea cups . . . fabric flowers . . . paper flowers . . . and did I mention flowers?! ;)

I am just sending out the invites today {sigh}. Such is life. =)
It will be FAB regardless & it is about my daughter having fun anyway right? She is helping me alot this year too which is always a WIN-WIN - QUALITY time!

I am so thankful for a few vendor friends that are helping me with this party. I knew I would not have a whole lot of time to plan as we just got back from Spring Break & her party is in less than 2 weeks. So this momma who feels like she needs to do EVERYTHING decided to delegate & ask for help & hire her friends. And ya know what, I am so much more relaxed (right now). LOL =)

I will be posting sneak peeks on Instagram if you want to follow along & see the mad rush to get all the crafts I am making done plus all the mayhem . . .I mean FUN, of the next week or so! ;)

So what do you think of the theme? I would love to hear from you, leave a comment below please! How are you liking the hand illustrated graphics compared to my usual digitally illustrated? Just curious.

  3. so pretty! I love the colors and design. It is nice to see a girl party that isn't the typical stuff and not a "licensed" character party. Can't wait to see!
