ART PRINT :: Love Is Sweet

love is sweet art, hand lettered art print, wedding, baby shower, candy bar

Hey there everyone, today I am bringing you a new hand lettered art print for the week! I am loving this tradition of adding a new print every week to the shop and hopefully you all are too. It's so much fun trying to decide on which design to add every week, it's hard to pick just one sometimes!

I decided to add the 'Love is Sweet' print this week because I was asked recently if I had some hand lettered art prints that could be used for a wedding or shower. Of course I love to hand letter something new but honestly I already had hand lettered this one and knew it was time to add this to the shop. The fact that today is of course 'wedding wednesday' around the web, may have had something to do with the timing as well;) The great thing about this print is that it could definitely be used at not only a wedding reception, with the candy bar but a bridal or baby shower, an anniversary party or even a few holidays like Sweetest Day or Valentines Day.

You will find this 'Love is Sweet' print in my Etsy shop along with many other prints to choose from. I hope you get a chance to look around and see all of the ones that I have done thus far.

Do you have a great idea on how to use this print? You can now get your own 'Love is Sweet' art print in my shop and I hope you enjoy this one! If you decide to get one, make sure to tag me on social media so I can see your prints in action and you never know . . . I may share it with my readers!

As always, I would like to remind you that I offer CUSTOM hand lettered prints as well. So if you think you have a great idea, please shoot me an email . . . at laura@eyecandycs.com and I'd love to chat with y'all!

WEDDING :: Orange & Fuschia Inspiration Board

Hello everyone & welcome to "Wedding Wednesday"!

summer wedding decor, orange wedding, fuschia wedding, cocktails, wedding details

::  lollipops  ::  cocktail  ::  dress ::  cake  ::  flowers  ::  confetti  ::  table number  ::

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Summer is in full swing and I am sure you have gone to a wedding or two this summer already. Bright colors are H-O-T for summer and this marriage of these bold colors is no exception and I personally am LOVING them together! Orange and fuschia make for a fun event that brings a little sizzle.

Candy in some form, available at the reception, makes for some fun with these lollipops done in your color scheme. Who wouldn't want to bring out their kid side? Make sure to choose a signature cocktail and mocktail that is as delicious as it is gorgeous! This cocktail with a fresh orange slice, regardless of what is in it, makes me want to head to the bar for one right now! ;) This dress is a stunner - perfect for the bridesmaids to wear or that perfect little dress to wear as a guest. Try adding a floral element as a cake topper to keep your modern cake design on the feminine side and create a look that is very modern chic. Adorn the tables with lots of flowers and fun shaped confetti in various shades of oranges and pinks to make the tables festive and fun! Also make sure to coordinate some amazing table number design with your theme to ensure your guests feel welcome and they know where to sit. They will appreciate it.

Have you ever attended a summer wedding using bright colors like these or a party that used them?  What was your favorite element of the event?  I would LOVE to hear the details . . .spill below ;)

Let's have some FUN & really get to know Luci . . .

1. Pretend YOU are a kid again . . . what toy you asking Santa for??
They didn’t have all of this Barbie stuff  when I was small, so I would ask for the huge house, high chair, crib and playpen, car and everything Barbie.

2. Favorite Christmas song?
Mariah Carey- All I Want for Christmas is you, and Eartha Kitt Santa Baby

3. If you were a reindeer - which one would you be? And WHY?
Rudolph, he was different and most memorable

4. What is ONE tradition you do EVERY year that makes the holiday SPECIAL for you?
Hate picking just one- but the kids love to watch all of the home alone movies. EVERY Day until Christmas. We bake cookies every night and watch Kevin get into trouble…
5. What does YOUR stocking look like?
Pink with white fur at the top. One side says naughy and the other side says nice.

6. Favorite Christmas treat?
Egg Nog

7. A Christmas Story or Christmas Vacation?
I was in girl scouts as a kid and went to the Festival of Trees (The East Coast's Largest Holiday Extravaganza) every year with my girl scout troop. Once I left girl scouts, I completely forgot about it until about 5 years ago when I came across the page on facebook. So now, every year I decorate and donate a tree or wreath for the event and take my whole family. It brings back all of the Christmas excitement for me. All donations are given to the Kennendy Kreiger Institute.

8. When do you start decorating your house?
Sometime around December 1st……

9. How many Christmas trees do you put up? What color scheme are they?
Just two. The main tree in the livingroom and then a table top tree for the dining area.  Different each year...my favorite is turquoise, green and silver.

10. Are you on the naughty or nice list this year?
Nice.

DIY :: HOW-TO Create an EASY Candy Buffet

candy buffet, dessert table, twizzlers, paper lanterns, candy bar how to

Easy Candy Buffet

We all ooooh and aaaaah over the highly stylized and pretty candy buffets, dessert tables, and party inspiration on our favorite blogs or Pinterest boards. But what if you wanted to create something yourself and you are not a professional party planner, stylist, or have access to wholesale supplies?

It IS possible to create a yummy and cute candy buffet for any age, season, or theme. Here is a simple how-to to get you started, and you can always build and embellish on this if you are crafty.

All the supplies and ingredients are standard grocery store items. No specialty online shopping or searching out an expensive craft store. You can buy the ingredients the next time you are shopping, store away until you are ready to set up, and there you go- an easy candy buffet for your friends and family.

This summer inspired buffet can easily be adapted for any color theme or season. I always find that glass jars show off treats and snacks so nicely and create a unified, clean look.

How much to buy and serve? It depends if you are planning of just allowing people to snack as dessert or also offer little cups or bags for them to take treats home as a favor. Multiply the number of guests by one serving of candy and decide how much to buy. Remember that most candy has a very long shelf life so there's no harm in having a little extra at the end. Also, a variety of shapes and flavors will make it look fun and interesting.

Your Shopping List:

- Assorted candies- Choose one or two of each category- chocolate, fruity, chewy, minty.

- Cupcake papers and straws

- Mini donuts- homemade are great but if you are not a baker, then don't feel guilty about buying them

- Ribbon- you may have some extra ribbon at home that would be great for this

- Paper cups, napkins, paper plates, and decorations (I found all of these items at my dollar store, including these pretty paper lanterns)

How-To:
· Choose where you want to serve- a candy buffet doesn't need a large table because most of what you are serving is small. I used a small china cabinet in my dining room.

· Cover with a table cloth that coordinates with your party or create this simple table runner with streamers- I cut strips in two colors and overlapped along the table, I taped the ends in place. It took all of 5 minutes!

· Choose your serving dishes, jars and spoons- I used large soup spoons
· Prepare labels for the treats- these are made from labels I found at my office supply store but you could also make some with craft paper and a paper punch

·  Set out your dishes and fill with candies, place spoons in for scooping

· Plate the donuts- I actually found these paper straws at my dollar store and they were cheap!
I placed 2 donuts in a cupcake paper and placed the straw in. Yum!

· Place labels on dishes and put out treat cups for guests to scoop their goodies into- paper cups are great for this because they hold lots and are sturdy for small hands. Add a little ribbon to embellish and they all coordinate.

· This easy backdrop was created by taping square paper plates to the wall- too easy!

· Add some decorative elements like ribbon, lanterns or confetti to the table.
And there you have it. A super easy candy buffet that kids and grown-ups will love.

{PEACE LOVE & FUN-Do Party} Lovin amazing vendors

~ hello everyone ~
Hopefully you all have seen the 'sneak peeks' I have been posting about my daughter's "Peace, Love & FUN-do" party this week. Honestly, I wish I had more time in the day to do all the things I need to get to but sometimes we have to choose between actual 'paying' work & writing a blog post & right now, client work is a priority. I was really hoping to have the full blog post up by now but decided that if I do it in tiny stages, then it might actually get done! As some of you may recall, I have yet to even blog/ show you her party from last year! (insert feeling-like-a-horrible-mom feeling here) Such is life I guess. {sigh}

Anyhow, yesterday I shared with you some pics from all the AMAZING & very generous people they wanted to collaborate with me on this party & wanted to take the time & highlight them all in one place - here - for you to see. Especially in case you missed it, as their work is beyond amazing!
Plus I wanted to give all of them the SPOTLIGHT before I posted about the party as they so deserve it! =)

When I first designed the theme, I posted on my FB page asking people- my fans & followers, if anyone who had a business & would like to collaborate, to please send me an email & we'll chat about the opportunity. What happened next I did NOT expect. All the sweet emails - LOTS of them, saying they would love to collaborate on a project with me. It blew me away & I felt so humbled. I just figured what better people to work with than the people who follow me on a regular basis - ya know? I am super excited to collaborate with some very talented people & so looking forward to doing so with ALL of them - if we can. So I still have all the emails & plan on trying to work with all of them at some point but for this party these are the ones that had the time for right now to get in on this one.

I have known Linda for awhile online & she's such a sweet friend. I really got to know her better when she asked me to design her logo for her. I have since done some other work for her & always wanted the chance to "use" her talent in one of my parties, so I was so EXCITED when she wanted in!

I sent her my designs as she wanted to do the cookies AND a cake topper for my daughter's cake. This is what I received:

Can we all say it together: GORG, GORG, GORG, GORGEOUS!!!!!!
I love the attention to detail & how it glitters in the light. Not to mention they were delish!

But oh, we're NOT done. Look at the sculpting fondant goddess' creation . . . Feast your eyes on this piece of fondant "eye candy":

This is soooooooo my daughter's likeness - I love the chucks, the skirt, peace sign tee, the headband & bracelet, the blue eyes -just absolutely GORGEOUS!
And don't you just love her little "9" pendant? CUTE!

~ Sheri from Blondie's Treats ~

How did I come to know Sheri? She started out as a fan, we worked together & I did some design work for her (including her logo) & now we're friends! We have gotten to know each other pretty well & are even trying to meet up this year at a blogging conference so we can hang out together! These kinds of things are DEFINITELY one of the bonuses of working for some awesome people - the friendships that can form from working for someone.

She of course does cake pops & she totally brought it! Check out these super cool & super groovy bad boys - complimented well with parts of my backdrop (BONUS!):

~ Luci from I Love Candy! by Luci ~
I first met Luci when she asked me (you guessed it) to design her logo for her. I just adore her as she is so pleasant to work with & is very professional. She even does design boards when working with you to ensure she is making you EXACTLY what you want! Love it! She decided to make chocolate peace signs lollipops, thank you lollipops & chocolate pretzel rod stix for the party. She also sent some Snickers party favors as well. Lots of variety with this one!

~ Julie from CakesandKids.com ~

I believe Julie is the only one that I have worked with before & I just LOVE her shop. It is FULL of everything you need for your party supply products - drink straws, favor boxes, favor bags, twine, fruit/nut cups, & much more! She sent me some goodies to use & it all matched up so perfect & having used her products before I can say that they are a GREAT product at a GREAT price & I highly recommend her! Here's a couple pics of her items at the party:

One of the adorable goodie boxes is pictured a couple photos up holding the Thank You lollipops & this is one that the kids could fill up with candy- such fun boxes!

~ Staci from Lizard & Ladybug ~

Staci is a crafting genius! Period. I know her from online & I just love her as she is such a huge supporter of mine & everyone else. She is just that way - she ROCKS! We were chatting one day & she came up with an idea to do party favors for all the kids & use my designs. Alas - bottle cap necklaces with MY designs in them to give to all the kiddos - LOVE LOVE LOVE! Definitely hook up with her if you are searching for a practical party favor idea that ALL the kids will love!

She also designed one of those acrylic tumbler cups for me. You know the ones that have a lid/straw. But that will wait until I do my full blog post. ;)

~ Laura (me) from Skylar Raine ~

And last but not least, party girl HAS to represent! She picked out this headband to go with her outfit. Matched perfectly - yay!

I so hope you have enjoyed this post & learning about just a few of the amazing people that are out in the party world that do exceptional work! I know there are TONS more but I am glad I got to work with these people on this party since most of them I had not gotten the chance yet.

Again THANK YOU to all of them & please be so kind as to go visit their pages, check out everything they have & give them some Eye Candy love & tell them I sent ya. I know they would appreciate you saying hello! =)

Stay tuned for the FULL blog posts on this party coming in just a few short days!
Have a great weekend! xoxo
