SHOPPING :: IKEA FINDS [Christmas]

Why hello everyone! Hope you are having a great week and are preparing for the beginning of the crazy holiday season! Have y'all started decorating yet? I am behind, as I usually have started by now because my Christmas starts at Thanksgiving every year with family that come in from out of town but I have been so busy with work, it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully when you read this I am singing Christmas tunes and decking the halls! lol

So welcome to the latest addition of 'IKEA shopping finds', which is what I share that caught my eye, on my latest trip to IKEA!!! As you know, all this year I have shared about an every other month schedule and this is an extra as I wanted to share the Christmas finds I gathered a few weeks ago when I was there! Hopefully you can get these at your local IKEA if you like them.

Once we get past the holidays I will have some fun projects from around my home to share with you using some of the products I have picked up on my trips to IKEA. I have a dining room reveal, my tween daughter's room reveal, a craft room makeover plus a few smaller projects that may sneak in before them, we'll see! ;) I DO know that I am sharing a living room gallery wall with you all within the next week here! Until then, enjoy my latest IKEA finds!


 

This room was gorgeous! It was right when I walked in and I am loving all of the pastel colors for Christmas and that couch! I love pink so ya know! ;)

I think what I love about this is the clean look. It's sleek, modern and pairs well with the copper decor accents in the back.

Now I'm just gonna throw this out there, but I DID notice an awful lot of decor in scarlet and grey! ;) Just saying! Go BUCKS! Love all of the paper decor plus it would be great to stock up for other holidays or perhaps an OSU tailgating party! lol Just sayin'

They had the cutest Christmas ornaments and these little birdhouses were my favorite!

Look Santa is a BUCKS fan! Ok, okaaaaaay I WILL stop now! haha But seriously isn't this decor adorable? And that reindeer is so quirky!

This hanging wreath would be a great addition if you had the perfect spot!

They had lots of garland, flowers and other little decor around the store that was so festive. AND I may have bough quite a bit of their garland as it was super spot, bendable and the price was great!

Copper accents and metallics are having a BIG moment, so if you are loving the copper, you will love some of these decor items!

It wouldn't be the holidays without an IKEA luminated star!

Lots of decorated trees around the store to get ideas plus they have trees for sale if you are in the market!

Holiday Recap 2013

     

Hello there!
Today I want to share with you a little about what I have been doing over the past month. I have LOVED the break from work (maybe a lil too much if I am being honest ;) . . . and I loved sleeping in, napping in the afternoons with my daughter, hanging out watching movie after kids movie with her, and NOT being on a set schedule. Anyone that knows me, understands what a rare thing that is as I am always go, go, go . . . have to be doing something ALL the time, so for me to enjoy this & actually LET myself enjoy it was a good thing! ;) AND I am so refreshed for it so maybe I should take a cue from this extended break every once in awhile & take a break for myself. Trust me - it's on MY list . . . for this year. But that's another blog post coming soon. ;)

We have had an extended winter break here in SW Ohio with the temps so frigid they had to cancel school several days, but today my daughter had to go back to school, so I thought it only appropriate to share what we did this last month. We made a TON of memories over winter break & had some really good times. As she keeps getting older, I find these times I get to spend with her, so few & far between so I cherish them more & more. I really do. Would love for time to freeze so I can keep here this little forever. {sigh}

It all started actually before break with a massive undertaking of decorating. We decorate the entire house . . . we have SEVEN themed trees we put up & if you follow me on Instagram, I am sure you saw a glimpse of most of them. It is so fun to do this every year . . .  only down-side is it takes awhile, so I start early.

 
A couple items I picked up this year from Pier 1 Imports. My fave is this snowman . . .adorbs! You will see ALOT of decor in my home from that place as it's one of my "go-to" decor stores! ;)

Our massive 9 foot tree . . . it takes a whole day to decorate but so worth it!
The ornament on the right is one of my faves on the tree for 2 reasons: one is I bought it on a trip of a lifetime with my brother in Maui when we spent a whole week there just chillin & surfin . . . this was to always remember those days. ;) And the other reason is my family is HUGE & I mean HUGE "Christmas Vacation" movie fans & if you have seen the movie then you know the other reason I love it.  Nuff said ;)

Our family always gets to share in the numerous activities my daughter is in but this year was EXTRA SPECIAL, as the 1st photo below is from her HONORS orchestra winter concert (she plays violin) with me beaming. ;) The second is, as I am sure you can tell, a photo of her at her church's Christmas production where she earned the role of Mary. So so proud of her & what she strives to do/be.

We also did the typical holiday FUN stuff:

a movie date to see Frozen (which was AMAZING!!!), yearly tradition of going to see Christmas lights with her cousins & of course making cookies!

And parties . . . we have LOTS of parties . . . we LOVE parties! ;) 
(that's me & my momma in the last one - isn't she so cute?)

Then the day came that we were all waiting for . . .a birthday for someone special. =)

And Santa made an appearance . . .

It was so much fun as this was our puppy, Chili's 1st Christmas with us . . .
Skylar drew him on our chalkboard door - can you see the resemblance? ;) And I must note this year she was really into OWLS. 2013 was the year of the owls for my daughter. So cute.

This. This photo. I absolutely LOVE it as it captures the essence of our family so well. We try not not take life too seriously & laugh at ourselves . . . ALOT! ;)

{HOME} Starbucks Christmas Tree + Decor

Today I'm sharing ANOTHER themed room in my home as it is lots of fun to decorate every year. It is my Starbucks room, which has (of course) a Starbucks tree! Now this one is not a large tree (yet) as it sits on a table in my kitchen nook & it IS becoming quite full of ornaments from Starbucks so I am sure it will supersize to a larger tree before long. ;) But for now, it's just a mighty little table tree.

I do like it for the fact that it does sit on a table & is manageable. Plus it has so much character as the ornaments Starbucks put out every year are some of the best. My mom started getting these for me right after college so I have quite a collection & they go all the way around the tree. 

I also have some other fun items that Starbucks has put out over the years duing the holdays . . .  an awesome snowglobe (which if you follow me on Instagram, you already have seen this) plus some coffee mugs from quite a few years ago, mini stockings, mini mugs & more. =)
I love waiting to see what Starbucks will have out for the holidays every year as it is always something FAB & they never disappoint. ;)

{HOME} Man Cave Christmas Decor + OSU Tree

Today I wanted to share another area in my home that is all decked out for Christmas. None other than the "man-cave". We live in Ohio & are HUGE Ohio State Buckeyes fans soooooo . . . the basement is the man-cave & houses all things "Ohio State" on a regular basis. So at Christmas, it is no different. We have an Ohio State tree, decorations & more. Enjoy a peek into the craziness that is all things SCARLET & GREY! ;)

So this is one of those woodland trees that are perfect for when you want to do a 'themed' tree & we have many in our house! lol
This one has all of the OSU ornaments that have been given to my husband every year for Christmas from family members or myself. I love how festive it is in this room.
 

Along with the tree & all of the ornaments, you will also find Ohio State snowmen, OSU buckets . . .

 
stockings, tree skirts, garland & even an OSU Santa Hat! ;) 

Another HUGE thing that is a collectible in the basement is nutcrackers!

 

and YES! . . . even OSU nutcrackers will be found!

 

And it wouldn't be a collection without it's OWN Christmas tree full of them! lol
 

 
This tree does have some 'other' ornaments on it but it does consist mainly of nutcracker ornaments. And did ya notice it is very special . . . a fiber optic tree! How cool is that? ;)
