Iced Coffee at Home
by Kimberley
If you don't already know this about me, I
am a coffee lover. Big time. I met my husband at Starbucks. I am practically
made of coffee, I drink so much of it.
When Laura designed these beautiful drink
umbrellas the first drink that popped to mind was "coffee!" but hot
coffee wouldn't work so of course I made my iced coffee and it was perfect.
If you haven't made iced coffee at home
before there are a few things you need to know: it is really easy. So easy that
you will wonder why you have been paying so much. It is that easy. Secondly, it
tastes much better. There is always something about homemade that is just so
much better.
So, brew up some coffee (or even decaf) and
make this for an afternoon treat or for entertaining this summer. You can
increase the recipe for as many as you like and even serve in a pitcher. Have
fun with it, add flavors, and be sure to top it with some eye candy.
Also, I have a special Cook Like a Pro tip for you too!
Iced
Coffee Recipe
-for 2 tall glasses as pictured-
· - 1 cup cold, brewed coffee (the
best way to do this is save the last cup from the day before or the morning,
put in fridge, and it is ready to go when you feel like it)
- 1/2 cup cold milk
- ice
Fill glasses with ice. I like a lot of ice
(and even coffee ice cubes work for this!) and then pour milk. Then pour coffee
over ice and milk- this is how you will achieve the beautiful ombre effect.
Sweeten with sugar, honey or vanilla syrup, if you like it a little sweet.
Top with straws and drink umbrellas.
Kick back, relax, and enjoy your easy
(inexpensive) homemade drink!
If you prefer to make an iced coffee cocktail, simply add a shot of Baileys Irish Creme or Kahlua Coffee Liqueur for that extra kick. ;)

I have owned every kind of coffee brewer-
drip, espresso machines (yes, multiple), stove top, French press, and so on.
After many years of brewing coffee at home I have gone back to the simplest
brewer, the French press. It makes the best freshly brewed coffee, it is an
inexpensive option, and it is so easy. You can never go wrong with it. Simply
freshly grind your beans as you brew and boil water. Sometimes simple really is
better.
