So fast forward to when I had a daughter of my own, I started a tradition with the ornaments as well, with her. Until she can decide on her own what kind of themed tree she would like to do, I am simply relying on what she likes at the time. Yup, every year, I hand pick a Hallmark ornament out for her that showcases what she liked during that particular year or what she was in to and she loves seeing what I will pick out for her every year!
My mom is always the one who gets us kids cool Hallmark ornaments every year so I thought, why not gift her an ornament this year and give a little handmade gift along with it! I mean she likes to deck the halls too, so why not give her a new Hallmark ornament along with some homemade holiday bark! She loves anything with caramel so I was inspired to create this recipe from the colors on her Hallmark ornament I got for her!
1. Gather all of the ingredients you will need: a 24 oz. package of white almond bark, 3 cups of dark chocolate chips, 3/4 cups green candy melts, 1.5 cups of sliced almonds and a package of caramel bits. (1 3/4 cups)
2. Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Melt the white almond bark according to the directions & pour into pan, spread evenly. Place in frig for 10 minutes.
3. Melt the dark chocolate chips and pour over the white.
4. Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the melted chocolate.
5. Melt caramel according to the directions and drizzle over bark in pan.
6. Melt the green candy melts and drizzle in the other direction to form pattern as shown and refrigerate for about 30 minutes before breaking into pieces.
I found these super cute jars, while I was shopping as well, and picked up a couple to put the bark in. So I loaded them up, attached the ornament and it was ready to go!
I also decided that I needed to make my daughter her fave bark for the holidays and package hers up for her like I did my momma and I think it tuned out so cute. Her bark is the same process, only less steps, dark chocolate on bottom, cover with the white almond mark, sprinkle with M&Ms and red candy melts and you have one that any kid would love. Plus it matches her ornament too . . .it's THE details right? ;)
Don't forget to check out the display of Hallmark Ornaments the next time you are at Walmart to see if there are any you could get for your own tree or gift giving. I mean that had an amazing selection especially since their ornament selection includes 16 Walmart exclusives including resin figurines, Holiday Barbie, new decor figurines and more. I saw Star Wars, Barbie, Mickey Mouse . . . you surely will find one as Hallmark ornaments are a perfect addition to any Christmas tree. I will tell you, that they are NOT located in the card section but more towards the front of the store or near the Christmas decorations.
